5 Colorful Minimalist Wall Art Print Ideas for your Living Room.

When you talk of Minimalist Wall Art Prints, the first thing that comes to your mind is boring and sometimes dull, Black and White wall hangings.

Today, I am going to share with you 5 Colorful Minimalist Wall Art Photographs that you can use to decorate your dull and boring living room environment with.

All of these Minimalist Photographs were clicked outside a Kindergarten School in Jaipur City. So without waiting any further, here are the Photographs:

A Word on the Composition of the Photograph:

What I was looking to create here was a Minimalist Photograph with Four Colors, each one getting enough attention and yet, not climbing over each other or crowding the frame. To make the Red Color behave, as it could have easily over powered my frame, I placed it on the top right corner of the frame. Placing the Blue color was a bit of a challenge. I had to place the Blue colored section with care. It should have been neither too high nor too low. In the end how I placed it, is exactly how I wanted.

A word on the Composition of the Photograph:

Here, I wanted to make the closed Red Door as the primary subject in the Minimalist Photograph. I let the other elements fall in place. To decide as to how much of the Blue wall portion I needed in the frame, I had to constantly bend up and down. Finally, I kept it around say 40%.

A word on the Composition:

My intent here was to only show a pair of two colors i.e Blue and Red. The idea was to keep the color palette very Minimalist. I zoomed out, then zoomed in, then I  moved closer towards the wall and then I adjusted my shot yet again. I did fiddle a lot actually. Sometimes, when you are shooting something as simple as the Minimalist Frame above, you tend to mess it up, for you assume it is too easy. Trust me this happens.

A word on the Composition:

Just like the Minimalist Photograph prior to this one, the idea here again was to have a very Minimalist Color Palette and restrict the total number of colors in the frame to two, namely Red & Yellow. I gave the Red color slightly more space in the frame. Red being my favorite color I did have a bias for it.

A word on the Composition:

After the Red color, Yellow is a second favorite color of mine, especially when it comes to using that color in Minimalist Photographs. Maybe because, this is the color I find most in my city (Jaipur) after the traditional ethnic pink(orange-ish pink actually). Again the color palette was kept Minimalist here  and the Yellow color was give a larger share in the frame.

Happy New Year 2019 !

This is my 1st Post of 2019 and what better way to start the New Year than by posting a Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors, Photograph?

I found these colorfully painted walls near Cafe Tea Tradition, Jaipur.
I was passing by on my Honda Activa Scooter. I stopped by for a quick couple of shots.

The Gray Arc/ Curve that you see in the foreground is actually a large cement sewer pipe, that I have used intentionally to break the Colorful Pattern Photograph (that I randomly titled "Thoughts in Color" to be honest)

and since it is mostly out of focus it also does not disturb the frame.

The EXIF Data of the Photo is as follows:

  • Camera Model: Canon EOS 6D Mark II

  • Lens: Canon 24-105 mm Prime Lens

  • F-stop: f/14

  • Shutter Speed: 1/60 sec.

  • ISO speed: ISO-2000

  • Exposure bias: 0 step

  • Focal Length: 105 mm

  • Metering mode: Spot

  • Flash mode: No flash

  • Exposure program: Manual

  • White Balance: Manual

Hope you enjoyed the Thoughts in Color Minimalist Photograph.

Tri Color Minimal

Its been long since I did a Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors Photograph.

So I decided to post one today.

This Tri Color Minimal Photograph was clicked at Jawahar Kala Kendra Jaipur (stop wondering as to how I find most of my shots at the same place?) .

This is a Lookup Minimal Shot.

The Kit that I had that day, was my Canon 600D mounted with the 50mm F1.4 Prime lens.

I was shooting a Metal fan against a maroon tent sitting down on my knees. And while I was struggling to get the simplicity right in that shot, I casually looked over my left shoulder to spot this.

I immediately thought It would be a nice idea to combine three colorful tents in one frame.

The use of lines gave more symmetry to the shot.

Not sure, if this would have looked good in Black and White, so I did not try and edit it that way.

I Hope that you find this colorful shot a little upbeat.

See you around next time.

Take care

These shots were taken at Cafe Lazy Mojo in Jaipur. I was there for an Art Meet organized by Kala Kartavyaa.

The Art meet was actually on Fashion and the theme was Lifestyle.

Fashion Bloggers/ Models and Photographers were invited to the meet.

I dint have much to do there.

I got a few tips on Fashion and soon I was done listening.

I was getting itchy to click, so I moved outside with my Camera.

I had my Canon 100 mm Prime Macro L Series Lens mounted on my Canon 600D Camera that day.

So I thought why not take some Look-up Minimal Shots.

Cafe, Lazy Mojo has this Pete Mondrian Style designed roof front.

I thought it would be a nice Idea to click some "Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors" shots.

This category of Minimalist shots are always hard to find.

While, I was editing, I decided to post a series of 3 shots this time, unlike my style of posting only 1 best shot from the shoot.

Since, it was about colors, therefore I chose 3.

The composition of the Shots is pretty simple  and self-explanatory.

Nothing much to say here. The major part is to find the Subject/Building with multiple colors and more than half of the job is done for you.

Apply a few basic rules of Photography like the Rule of Thirds etc and you are good to go.

Hope, that you enjoyed the shot.

Show me yours :)

Good Day !

Dark Violet Green And Blues, is a shot that comes from the same building, where I shot Colorful Rectangles

As I had mentioned in that post, that I would soon be sharing a Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors Shot, so here it is.

In Colorful Rectangles, there was one color too many to categorize that photo in Few Colors Category, but here the setup is ideal with just 3 main colors.

Therefore this Minimalist Photo falls nicely under the Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors Category of Minimalism.

Other noteworthy elements of the photo that make it Minimal and more Balanced Composition-wise are:

- Simple Geometric Shapes i.e mostly lines and partitions

- Measured Alignment

- Lots of Empty Space

- Rule of Thirds i.e the Blue partition at the bottom

- Subtle Textures that uplift the artistic aspect

- Minimal Editing

- Visual Clarity / Non-complexity

Alright, that's pretty much about the photograph.

See you, next post.

One Last Thing: You can also buy this Photograph for your Kids Room or if this Color Palette matches your house paint or Brand Logo.

Be on Top

Red Wall and Blue Sky Minimalist Photography at Jawahar Kala Kendra Jaipur

We all want to be on top, be in the drivers seat and excel in whatever domain we are working in. We all have those leadership quality built-in by default. But, only some of us are able to achieve what we strive for. It is not that we don't work hard enough, we all do, but only some get lucky.

That desire to be on top is well expressed here. The red wall signifies aggression and blue (generally related to oceans or water which covers a majority of the earth's surface.) here is used to portray the desire to capture or have it all. The subtle curve that goes to the right indicates the hurdles that come in the way.

I strongly believe that every Minimalist Photo speaks and can be analyzed to gain insights into both a) our own sub-conscious mind and b) the messages hidden in nature. To compose, I placed the curve on the right and kept it small. Red was emphasized but not overemphasized.

Shooting Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors is not that easy. You always have to spot the intersection points or meeting points of different colors. Here there are 4 colors that meet at a point somewhere on the right hand side of the frame. The distinctive colors being, Red, Blue, Black and Brown.

Balance of Nature

Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors

Black is the color of death and negative news. Yellow is the color of the sun and represents vitality and strengthens the nerves and the mind. This photo perfectly depicts the balances built within nature.

One extreme is offset by the other. Days are followed by nights and bad times by the good. Everything is brought to a point of balance. The artist who painted this sub-consciously knew about this fine balance. I just loved the beauty of it.

When shooting Minimalism as few Distinctive Colors make sure you capture the intersection point or the point where most colors meet. Later, apply a few rules of photography. Lines act as a bonus here. I got lucky on this one and I wish the same for you.

A Minimalist Photograph of Colorful fabrics used by a Tea seller to protect and cover his Tea Stall/ kiosk from heat.

I was returning home on a Sunday afternoon after capturing some nice Minimalist Photographs at Jantar Mantar, Jaipur. On my way back I stopped at the road side "Tea Stall" to have a cup of Indian Chai, or Tea.

It was about 12.30 pm in the afternoon and it was really very hot and sunny. I had the camera in my lap still switched on and I was looking at the streets hunting for a street shot for some street photography, for a change. Something prompted me to look-up and when I did, I spotted this colorful mix of cloth and plastic. I knew this was an opportunity to capture a Minimalist Photograph.

This was being used as a temporary cover/shed by the Tea Seller by the street, to protect his customers and his kiosk from the heat of the Sun or Rain. The customers could now sit in a comforting way and enjoy Tea at his Tea Stall.

I captured this shot sitting on the chair, which is kinda funny isn't it? Sometimes I get really lazy.

I also made sure that I gave the brighter color i.e yellow, more space in the frame and arranged the pattern carefully in the frame using onscreen grid lines.

This photo falls under the Minimalist Photography Category: Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors.

Source of Happiness

A Minimalist Photograph of the Colorful decoration at St Xavier's College Jaipur during the IMERA photography exhibition.

I was walking past the galleries of St Xavier's College Jaipur, where I went to view IMERA their annual Photography exhibition, that was held this Sunday.

I had my DSLR hung around my neck as usual with that broad black Canon strap with the thin red border. I was hunting for some Minimalist subjects, but wasn't able to find any for a long time.

While I was randomly looking up to the sky, I found these beautiful arrangement of colors and there you go I had a Minimalist Photograph to capture.

Similarly, in life we are mostly unhappy with the things around us and we kind of get into the trap and fail to engage or find things which can make us happy like hobbies like art, photography, interacting with people, traveling etc. It is not difficult to be happy in life, all that we need to do is to find our source of happiness and sometimes we find that source when we least expect it to find.

Now coming to the Composition part of the Photograph

Minimalism as few Distinctive Colors is not that tough to capture or compose.

You need to actively look for color contrasts. Once you spot them, switch to the camera's LCD mode with the 3x3 grid on and try to place your subjects creatively,

I mostly shoot from the LCD Screen although focusing as a result is very slow compared to the viewfinder but you can definitely make stronger compositions.

Sure, you can also use the viewfinder, but I am more comfortable sometimes with the LCD screen display as then I can do perfect frame alignments.

Hope you enjoyed the shot.

Stay tuned for more Minimalist Photographs :)
