A Minimalist Photograph of the Side of a residential apartment building in Jaipur City.

This Looking up Minimalist Photograph was taken at Swej Farm Jaipur. The place hosts a lot of residential and office apartments.

This shot was actually predetermined. Even before getting out of my house, I knew that I would be capturing a Windows in Repetition Minimalist Photograph.

All I had to do here was to find a good set of well designed simplistic windows that were mounted on a wall with a decent color. The gray color and white bordered windows were prefect for a Minimalist Frame and color palette.

The next thing was to not be too close to the subject rather shoot this from a distance. This would enable me to leave some negative space, show the objects as small and therefore maintain the Minimalism feel.

The other question that popped up in my head was whether to convert this photo into Black and White, but since the Gray and White combination acted as a good Minimalist color palette, I left the photo colored.

Windows in Repetition Vs The Green Tree

This shot falls under the Minimalism as in Repeating Shapes Category. What we have here, is a repetition pattern created by the Windows of the rooms of a hotel in Jaipur. 

I have purposefully placed the Green Tree on the bottom left corner of the frame, so as to break the Pattern of Repetition. Without the Green Tree, the shot would be too vanilla, at least for me.

I shot this from an over-bridge, in-case you were wondering from where I got the height in the frame. Its the result of the over-bridge elevation, that I am looking-up but yet my view is kind of flattish or parallel to the ground. 

Other than the height, the 100 mm Macro Lens helped me to shoot this comfortably from a distance.

Mysterious Staircase

I have posted many photos of Jantar Mantar before and I must have been there to shoot Minimalist Photos for about 8-10 times already. But the place is so filled with geometry that whenever I go there I am able to find newer shots.

This one below was a result of me being lazy and for I was carrying a zoom lens. It was hot and sunny and I thought rather than going close towards the staircase to shoot, let me try the shot from distance for a change. Distance is an important aspect in minimalism. It makes your subject look small and Minimalistic and that is ideal. You can also shoot at 18mm with your regular kit lens to achieve similar results. As for me, I was zoomed in as usual with my 55-250mm zoom lens.

Now coming back to the shot, since I was far away from my subject I could include an extra element in my frame i.e the black door. The curved arcs of the door juxtaposed nicely with the straight lines of the staircase. Such a contrast brought in the much needed Art Effect. A quick reminder, make sure you make your staircases disappear towards the end to add mystery.

I turned this into monochrome as architectural shots in black and white exposes the geometry and shapes well. Color generally distracts the eye.  Do share links of your black and white Minimalistic shots in comments.

Balance of Nature

Minimalism as Few Distinctive Colors

Black is the color of death and negative news. Yellow is the color of the sun and represents vitality and strengthens the nerves and the mind. This photo perfectly depicts the balances built within nature.

One extreme is offset by the other. Days are followed by nights and bad times by the good. Everything is brought to a point of balance. The artist who painted this sub-consciously knew about this fine balance. I just loved the beauty of it.

When shooting Minimalism as few Distinctive Colors make sure you capture the intersection point or the point where most colors meet. Later, apply a few rules of photography. Lines act as a bonus here. I got lucky on this one and I wish the same for you.

A Black and white Minimalist Photo of the Side view snippet of an old traditional builing at Johari bazaar, Jaipur 

Primary intention here is to show lines and the geometry in the structure. This Shot was captured at one of the most famous Bazaars (or shopping market) of Jaipur i.e "Johari Bazaar".

Johari Bazaar is host to some of the best Jewelry in the city. The traditional architecture is a key highlight of the Jewelry market and a lot of tourists come here for its admiration. Of course the classic and ever so unique jewelry designs are a must to explore by any tourist visiting Jaipur city.

Placing the subject was a little tricky. I had to tilt and re-adjust the camera multiple times to get the frame that I wanted. The tip is, never to be satisfied with just one shot. Try and take multiple shots from different angles. 

Another reason to take multiple shots is, when you open some shots on your computer screen, they look entirely different from what you saw on LCD screen while shooting.
