A Looking down Minimalist Photograph of a Lines versus the Floor Mat, shot at Poppin Cafe Jaipur.

Poppin Cafe has now shut down, but I used to visit if often and I made friends with the owners Akul and Ritika.

Since I was friends with them, at times I used to carry my Camera to the Cafe and roam around freely  searching for shots.

This is the reason I was able to get such a shot. I was free in the mind.

This twisted perspective is what I would love to shoot even more. Believe it or not, I started by placing the Wooden Table on the top left as a bar of straight line, then I adjusted my movement for the rest of the elements to align and form some kind of balance.

As you can see, there is a lot of Simple Geometric Elements in the frame and Negative Space, hinting at a classic Minimalist Photograph. The Floor Mat forms a Triangle and there is another one under the table and then there are Straight and Diagonal Lines.

A Minimalist Photograph of an Orange Triangle at a Construction site in Jaipur.

I was passing by Tonk Road, when I spotted this under construction site. They had recently broken the wall and put up metal barriers to hide the construction work. 

I waited for the moment to ponder what could I make of the scene in front of me. Then I thought, why not create a Triangle out of the Broken boundary wall. 

Sure, the Triangle was not as such available, rather I had to make it via my composition through its placement within the frame. Therefore, I placed the abstract Orange Triangle towards the extreme right corner. 

I also liked the fact that the scene had Vertical Lines i.e in the Metal Barrier, and that a Diagonal line, that of the Triangle, was going against it.

A looking-up Minimal Art Photograph of 10 Squares and 2 Triangles shot at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur

I was at the exact same place earlier as well and what I clicked that day was this shot Two Triangles Vs Lines

So, this is the second shot from the same place, similar angle. 

They say "Make the best use of the available resources"

Since my Photography is just a hobby albeit a very passionate one, 

I go to the places I can, be it the same places, with different lenses, on different days, different time and capture different shots. 

Someday, I will be doing full-time photography... waiting for that day...

Till that day comes and I redo, revamp the entire blog and posting style, enjoy these simple expressions of mine :D

My Geometry Addiction continues

 

As you can see, this Minimalist Photograph has many Geometric Shapes namely a Line, a Square, a Triangle and a Rhombus.

I took this shot down on my knees from a far off distance. I had my 100mm prime lens on, so that helped me do so. 

The screen of the Camera was flipped out as I took the Live View assistance here. 

The alignment of various shapes was key, and the preview helped a lot in achieving the same.

The inclusion of Lines on Top left and the Light Triangle on the bottom right of the frame, are intentionally included in the frame. 

Lastly, The Photo belongs to the Minimalism as Simple Geometry category of Minimalist Photography.

This Sunday I was invited by my photographer friend Manav, to Jawahar Kala Kendra for a Photowalk.

Initially I refused, because I had already taken many shots at that place. But because I was feeling tired to go out to a far off place, I agreed.

When I reached Jawahar Kala Kendra, my friend was already sitting with another acquaintance enjoying a cup of coffee.

Before I greeted and joined him, I took about 15 minutes of solo time searching for subjects.

It was a challenge for me, as I had already shot most part of the building. After 10 minutes I realized that I could not find anything worthwhile to frame.

So I tried going in for "creating my own subject" via "visual layering" or "overlapping of surfaces" method. Never heard of these terms before? Never mind, these are my own terms.

I stood right under the structure that had two identical floors with attached balconies, one to my left and one to my right. I started to look up and I kept moving to my right until I had Two Triangles being made by the cut/opening in the wall structure of the floor on the right.

Now, Lets look at the lines on the left. These lines were created by a similar opening in the wall of the floor on the left. If I had moved forward, then Two more similar Triangles would have been created.

Well, I let these lines just take their place in the frame. Didn't fiddle much there. 

I basically worked on the size and placement of the Two Triangles on the right, primarily by my physical movement. My movement included all four ways i.e forward, backwards, to my left and to my right.

After about 4 shots, I got the frame that I wanted. 

The Photo falls under the Minimalism Type: Simple Geometry. The Simple Geometric shapes being Triangles and Lines. 

The lens used here is Canon 100mm Prime L Series Macro Lens.

Camera Used is Canon 600D Crop Sensor.

Two Yellow Circles Minimalist Photography with Light and Shadow

What is Love? I am "Not" too sure about that, but are you? People talk of love as a feeling which they get into unknowingly. It starts-off as an initial attraction and later turns into extreme concern and care for that special person. When in love, you do not tend to acquire or gain something from the other person, rather you become selfless and try to be as giving as possible. And of course, that person hardly ever leaves your mind, whether in sleep or when you are awake, in happiness or in sadness. OK, but with all of this the real question is,

Is Love really love? and well especially now-a-days? People see and learn all of this from movies and of course through real-life experiences. As soon as something similar happens with them, they jump right to the conclusion that it is "Love". Well, they don't just stop there, rather they move a step further and claim that it is "TRUE Love". 

How true are their claims can only be found out during testing times. In most cases they take a step backwards and re-classify their feelings as mere "Infatuation". Why? because their loved one is in trouble, or is in testing times, in bad circumstances. Rather than supporting his/her partner they just turn away from them in search of someone else who is free of all the negativity and full of optimism, carries a smile, etc etc. No one wants to accept the reality that there are ups and downs in everyone's life, and measuring, loving and judging people based on their circumstances, is being a very shallow individual yourself. 

I wanted to show the same scenario with the picture above where two yellow circles or two people were in a close relationship to begin with. Buy as soon as one of them ie the circle on the right started facing testing times (depicted by the triangle created by the dark shadow or problems.), the other one distanced himself from him. There are similar cases in real life and in most cases "Conditional Love" or rather "No Love At All", is being misunderstood for "True Love". In the past, 

I have had many friends face similar issues in their relationships. What is your take on it? Why is it that people are so shallow now-a-days? Some are even afraid to fall in love. Share your thoughts below. I would be happy to read your insights.

More on the Minimalist Composition

The shot falls under Minimalism as Simple Geometry category. I tried to use negative space a little differently this time, I placed it between the two circles. Getting the Triangle created by the shadow right, was a little tricky, as a) I was in the middle of a busy street loaded with traffic and b) Shadows change very very fast and If I had taken more time to shoot, the shadow might have engulfed the entire circle and that kind of a shot would have had less visual appeal.
