A Minimal Art Photograph of Peacock Feathers against an old Heritage Door.

This Photograph was taken when I was out on a Photowalk near Hawa Mahal Jaipur.

The Photowalk  was organized by Anudeep Mathur in November 2016. Thanks to the Quarantine/Lockdown, that I am able to dig into my old folders and bring these photos to the forefront.

We assembled in front of Hawa Mahal at about 8 AM. The Sun was shining bright and I still remember the air that day was really fresh.

After the Group Shot, we were supposed to walk towards Jaleb Chowk and keep clicking photos on our way. While everyone was on a Street Photography walk, I was on my combo of Street And/ OR Minimalism.

While on my way to Jaleb Chowk, I spotted this Old Heritage Door and these Beautiful Peacock Feathers Set. These feathers set was kept against the Heritage Door by a Peacock Feather seller. When I asked him he said that he would be off to sell these in about half an hour.

I admired the Peacock Feathers for a long time. They were so beautiful that I forgot to even click a picture.

After a while, I took the lens lid off and composed this Minimalist Frame bending low on my knees.

The feathers contrasted nicely with the Brownish-red old Heritage Door with In-built Square shapes.

Overall it was an interesting Color Palette not to miss.

The EXIF Data of the Photo is as follows:

  • Camera Model: Canon EOS 600 D

  • Lens: Canon 50 mm Prime Lens

  • F-stop: f/7.1

  • Shutter Speed: 1/320 sec.

  • ISO speed: ISO-100

  • Focal Length: 50 mm

  • Metering mode: Spot

Hope you enjoyed the Peacock Feathers Minimalist Photograph.

Thank you for your time. Have a Nice Day !

Bathing in the Sun

Minimalism as Less Elements

Here you have simple geometry bathing in the afternoon sunlight. The composition comprises of one rectangle on the left hand and one rectangle on the right, with empty space/distance between them. The little curved line, formed by the metal pipe under the two geometric part-rectangles, acts as the supporting element which balances off the composition. The advantage of shooting in bright sunlight is that the walls are well lit and you can use shadows to your advantage. Shadows always give your photos an artistic feel.

"Sometimes you feel that you've been "Misread" by a lot of people and you need some time on your own alone in the park, sitting on the bench reflecting back on life." In this composition I have applied two rule of thirds. One at the bottom and one on the left. Therefore there is plenty of negative space both above the bench and also to the right, to add that classic minimalist feel.

A green bench against a large yellow wall is an Ideal setting. To being with, what made me attracted towards the bench, was the subtle light and shadow differential on the wall. It was just too beautiful to look at. Maybe you could also find this, if you visit Jantar Mantar, Jaipur.
