Greetings once again from Jaipur City.

Before I write about this picture, I would like to ask for apology for any editing errors in the Photograph above.

Last week, my Laptop crashed and I bought a new one only 3 days ago.

It took me sometime but finally I got all the software and editing tools to work.

I will take some time getting used to the new Display Screen and other Settings.

I did not have much of a problem though with the Black and White effect here, as I had shot the photo in Monochrome settings.

More on the Photograph

I spotted this Street Lamp Shadow right opposite Poppin Cafe, where I usually hang out on Sunday for a Cup of White Tea.

The Shadow of the Street Lamp on the Textured Wall, was the thing that motivated me to click this subject.

I tilted the camera in my hand a bit to get both the Lamp and its Shadow in the frame.

I did wait for a while for a bird to fly past, in fact about 20 minutes, but I had no luck this time.

I have categorized this picture under the Minimalism as Less Elements category of Minimalist Photography.

The elements being the Lamp (and its shadow) and the Wall.

Hope you enjoyed the shot.  Keep that feedback coming :)

Minimalism as Less Elements

This Street Lamp and Metal Fence Photograph falls under Minimalism / Minimalist Photography as Less Elements

The Only elements here being a) The Street Lamp and b) The Metal Fence.

Yes, I have kept it real simple.

To make the Photo stand out , I have created a visual effect that kind of portrays that the Street Lamp is a part of the Broken Metal Fence and the fence doesn't look like its broken.

I did so by bending down on my knees and visually connecting the fence and the lamp by moving left and right.

Its a weird shot or one may call it a trick shot or something else. I clicked this while I was attending the Jaipur Art Summit.

The creative vibes of the summit bit me hard ;)

Black Crow

Minimalism as Less Elements

A Black and White Photo of a Black crow sitting on top of a Street Lamp on the Streets of Jaipur, India.

Here we have a Black Crow sitting on top of a Street Lamp.

This is the second shot from the same place i.e Albert Hall Jaipur, that I am posting here.

The earlier posted shot was in the landscape format.

The other difference between the two Minimalist shots is that here the Bird / Black Crow is sitting on top of the Street Lamp, whereas in the other shot, the Bird is seen flying across the Street Lamp.

Here is the link to the shot that I had posted earlier:

Please Note: Both Shots Fall under the Minimalism as Less Elements Category.

The Photo Settings, editing style is nearly the same, even the Exif Data is very similar.

Let me know in the comments below, which one of the Two Minimalist Photographs / Shots did you find better and Why?

The above Photo Falls under the Minimalism as Less Elements Category. The Picture a little Maximal, as the coverage area of the Reflection of the Electricity Tower on Glass Building, is quite large. But, Still the elements in the Photo are just three. Namely:-

1) The Glass Building
2) The Reflection of the Electricity Tower
3) The Street Lamp on the Left.

and therefore the Photo is Minimalist :)

Another take on The Photo is, that it is more of Minimalist Visual Art Play, than just being a Simplistically Minimal Photograph. I hope you get what I am trying to say.

I found this subject on a Red Light Crossing. I was on my bike Crossing it and The Big Reflection of the Electricity Tower, made me stop right after the crossing.

Yes, a Lot of people started staring at me, as the street was a busy one. Some people even started calling me, to come take a photo of something that they think I could publish in the newspaper. They all consider me a Media Reporter, for the way I look with my rimless specs. And also because of The Big Big Long 100mm Canon Prime Lens, that I took this shot with.

I have made it a rule now, that no matter who calls me, I will ignore all the voices. Its just a waste of time and it creates an immediate disconnect with my sub-conscious mind that generally takes over, when I shoot Minimalist Photos

I would advise you as well, to not to get into any kind of chatter with people on the street while shooting. I have had incidents, therefore I am suggesting you this.

Well, with that little advice, I would like to close this post.

Hope you enjoyed my find. :)

See you, next shot.

Cloud Vs the Lamp

 Minimalism as Less Elements

Here, I have shown the juxtaposition between two shapes/forms

a) the Abstract Cloud, having no particular form or shape, Versus
b) The Curve of the Lamp, which has a clearly defined form/shape.

As you can see I have left negative space on the left, to make the interaction between the two forms/shapes stand out. It was a very tricky shot as and I had to maneuver a lot. I moved quite a bit to my left, to first get the cloud right behind the lamp visually. The cloud  was way above the lamp and there was a huge gap between them. To correct that, I moved near the lamp by walking towards it, and went down on my knees to bring the cloud down. The final adjustment was positioning the lamp right in the center of the moving cloud.

The Minimalism Classification:

Minimalism Type: Minimalism as Less Elements

The Elements: Lamp, Cloud, Small Bird

Hope you enjoyed the photo and the behind the scenes action. Do leave your feedback below. Thank you.
