A Black and White Minimalist Photograph of a Man commuting to work on his Bicycle and a Big Shadow Triangle formed on the Street.

This shot was taken with from Civil Lines Metro Station 1st Floor. When I went there to take a shot, the Metro Station was under construction, therefore I had easy access to the staircase.

I was with my Canon 600 D crop sensor camera with 50 mm prime lens mounted, looking down on the street.

First, I placed the Shadow Triangle on the bottom left and then I waited for people/vehicles to pass by.

I knew long shadows of such people/vehicles would be created because of the position of the Sun and because of my distance from the street the subjects that pass by would look small enough to create a a nice Minimalist Frame.

I saw this Man on Bicycle heading into my frame from a distance and I waited to place him in the frame in such a way that would allow ample Negative Space.

Negative Space and the distance from which this Minimalist Photograph was taken, converted this Street Photo into Street Minimalism.

Inside Outside

A Minimalist Photograph of Idle Plastic Chairs contrasting each other, one being Inside and the other being outside.

What I saw here initially, was the Red Chair on Top of a White Chair placed nicely against the wall. Then I spotted the Red Chair Inside.

This made me change my shot from the straight flat from the from idea of the two chairs, to include the Red chair inside within the frame.

This helped me create the Inside Vs Outside Chair theme in the Photograph. One more way of interpreting the art could be One Chair Versus Two.

A Minimalist Photograph of Peacock Feathers against an old Heritage Door.

This Minimalist Photograph was taken when I was out on a photowalk near Hawa Mahal Jaipur.

The photowalk  was organized by Anudeep Mathur in November 2016. Thanks to the Quarantine/Lockdown, that I am able to dig into my old folders and bring these photos to the forefront.

We assembled in front of Hawa Mahal at about 8 AM. The Sun was shining bright and I still remember the air that day was really fresh.

After the Group Shot, we were supposed to walk towards Jaleb Chowk and keep clicking photos on our way. While everyone was on a street photography walk, I was on my combo of Street And/ OR Minimalism.

While on my way to Jaleb Chowk, I spotted this old heritage door and these beautiful peacock feathers Set. These feathers set was kept against the heritage door by a peacock feather seller. When I asked him he said that he would be off to sell these in about half an hour.

I admired the peacock feathers for a long time. They were so beautiful that I forgot to even click a picture.

After a while, I took the lens lid off and composed this minimalist frame bending low on my knees.

The feathers contrasted nicely with the brownish-red old heritage door with built-in square shapes.

Overall it was an interesting color palette not to miss. 

As for the Types of Minimalism category, this photograph falls under the Less Elements type, as you can see here there are basically only two elements here 1. the door and 2. the peacock feathers

Park Bench Corner

A Minimalist Photograph of the Corner of a Park Bench at Central Park, Jaipur.

My intention here was to emphasize on the Curve of the Bench Armrest and the Spiral shape it was forming at the top. 

To achieve this, I used the widest aperture possible on my Canon 100 mm prime Macro lens, aka f/2..8 

Shooting with such an aperture resulted in effective segregation of the subject in the foreground with the background, for this setting created Background Blur or Bokeh. The Bokeh effect results in sharp attention and focus on the key subject. Note: there must be some depth behind the subject for the bokeh/background blue effect to come out nicely.

I also wanted to show the Shadow of the Park Bench Corner on the wall, and to achieve that I moved a little to the left of the Armrest.

Square Vs Light Squares

A Minimalist Photograph of a Square Versus Abstract Light Squares on a Red Wall at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur.

What I spotted here first, was the Four Light Abstract Squares on the Red Wall. These were formed due to light passing through an open window with 4 glass panes in it, right behind me. 

Now, I had to contrast these Abstract Light Squares with something. So, I looked for a Geometric subject to go with it.

There was a Square on the wall next to this one. To include that with the Abstract Light Squares I shot the edge of the two walls and placed one subject on the either end of the frame. This juxtaposed the two subjects nicely.
